The gym at Life Leisure Hazel Grove has recently undergone a remarkable refurbishment, transforming the space into somewhere everyone can unlock their potential.

There’s a range of cardio machines complete with iFit technology, which includes interactive workouts and personalised training programmes. We believe in inclusivity and have introduced a brand-new performance zone that caters to everyone, equipped with easy-to-use strength training machines. The performance zone is also home to a squat rack and plenty of free weights.

And that’s not all— it’s also home to R1G Powered by H1VE, a brand new functional training area equipped with high end studio benches, dumbbells, kettlebells, air bikes, ski-ergs and more for you to use during your workout.

Group exercise classes

Life Leisure offer a fantastic range of group exercise classes catering for all fitness levels and abilities, such as HIIT, Body Pump, Yoga and Spin. Some classes are more intense than others, but each class can be modified for all abilities with adaptations for exercises given where needed.

R1G powered by H1VE is a brand-new functional training space in the gym. As well as being able to use this space for your workout in the gym, the R1G area also hosts four new classes designed to boost your fitness and increase your strength: R1G Strength, R1G Engine, R1G Form and R1G Team.

All classes can be booked up to seven days in advance and we highly recommend doing so where possible to avoid disappointment. Members can book via the Life Leisure app or website.

Come and enjoy our 25m main pool with sessions available for lane swimming, fun swims, general swims and inclusive swims! Our small pool is perfect for little ones and hosts Baby Splash and Toddler Splash sessions and therapeutic warm water sessions.

Please note, our lockers in the changing village have been updated and now require a padlock.  These are available to purchase at reception, or you can bring your own.

Our first ever Community Sensory Garden is now open at Life Leisure Hazel Grove – a vibrant space in nature designed to bring people together, encourage creativity, and promote healthier, happier living. This multi-purpose area hosts a variety of activities, including family workshops, kids’ activity days, summer fairs, outdoor markets, gardening clubs, and sensory-focused workshops.

From planting and pruning to crafting and upcycling, there’s something for everyone. Whether it’s exploring nature with our Kids activities, engaging in natures and wellbeing sessions, or linking with existing coffee mornings and walking groups, this space is for all ages and interests.

The benefits go far beyond gardening! By creating and caring for this shared space, we’ll help make our community cleaner, greener, and more connected. Gardens like this are proven to attract wildlife, reduce air pollution, and improve mental and physical health through ‘green exercise.’ They foster pride of place, encourage safer streets, and bring people together to share skills and build relationships. From boosting biodiversity to learning how to grow fresh food, this project will transform not only the space itself but also the people and community around it.

Leisure key companion/carer card

Some families or individuals may be eligible for a leisure key which is delivered by Stockport Council. This provides discount to swimming and other activities across Life Leisure. In addition, if you are eligible for a leisure key companion/carer card, you will be able to access the activity for free accompanying an individual to a session. The following steps need to be taken to access this:

  1. Check your eligibility criteria with Stockport Council here.
  2. Complete any of the relevant information and submit proof of eligibility if required.
  3. Once you have your leisure key and or leisure key companion card, bring this into a Life Leisure centre and register for a Casual Leisure Key Bookings account at reception.
  4. Once this has been registered, you can then book online. For instructions on how to book, please click here.

Swimming

Life Leisure Hazel Grove offer therapeutic warm water sessions in the small pool on the following days:

  • Monday: 2.45pm – 3.45pm
  • Wednesday: 2.45pm – 3.45pm
  • Thursday: 11.00am – 12.00pm
  • Stockport Sharks Swimming Club host a session every Wednesday from 7.30pm – 8.30pm for anyone with physical or sensory disabilities. For more information on how to join this session, please visit their website here.
